The 4-ABA molecule, possessing an aniline-like and benzylamine-like functional group, can interact both with the PA and the PSSA via nucleophilic interaction, thereby allowing proton jumping in the structure. Physico-chemical and thermal characteristics of the prepared solid membranes were investigated by IR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was employed to investigate their proton-conductance properties. Transparent composite membranes were prepared. However, the membranes are opaque for relatively high content of PA. These membranes are thermally stable up to 300°C. The proton conductivity increases with temperature and also with content of PA. Values as high as 1.8 10−3 S cm−1 were measured at 190°C in fully anhydrous condition. ×

An overview of organic/inorganic membranes based on sulfonated poly ether ether ketone for application in proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Nowadays, proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are the most promising green energy conversion devices for portable and stationary applications. Traditionally, these devices were based onperfluoro-sulfonic acid electrolytes membranes, given the commercial name Nafion. Nafion is the mostused electrolyte membrane till now; because of its high electrochemical properties su...
متن کاملProton conductivity in the dry membrane of poly(sulfonic acid) and polyamine layer-by-layer complex.
A layer-by-layer assembled and molecular-complexed polymer membrane was prepared by the simple combination of poly(4-styrenesulfonic acid) and poly(allylamine) on a comb-shaped gold electrode: it displayed a very high proton conductivity of 10(-3) S cm(-1) under a dry condition at 120 degrees C.
متن کاملFabrication and Characterization of Proton Conductive Membranes Based on Poly(methyl methacrylate-co-maleic anhydride)
In this study, proton conductive composite membranes were produced by using a poly(methylmethacrylate-co-maleic anhydride) (P(MMA-co-MAH)) copolymer and phosphotungstic Acid (PWA) as an additive of the proton conductive agent. P(MMA/MAH) 70/30, 50/50, and 30/70 were synthesized using a free radical polymerization reaction. PWA with a concentration of 2% was added to...

Poly(methyl methacrylate-co-nitrophenyl maleimide) (MMA-co-NMI) and poly(methyl methacrylate-co-hydroxyphenyl maleimide) (MMA-co-HMI) copolymers were synthesized using free radical polymerization of MMA with a new MI monomer containing phenyl and –NO2 groups. Proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) were prepared using these copolymers as membrane matrix and phosphotungstic acid (PWA)...
متن کاملHigh-temperature polybenzimidazole-based membranes
Polybenzimidazole (PBI)-based high-temperature proton exchange membranes (PEMs) offer many advantages that aid in a simplified fuel cell system design. Such benefits include high resistance to fuel impurities (most notably carbon monoxide), fast electrode kinetics, and simplified water and thermal management due to operational temperatures above 120 ◦C.[1] As a result of its intrinsic physicoch...
